Jessica Simpson in Working Girl remake?

JessicaSimpson.jpgI was sure that I'd reported before that there was a Working Girl remake underway, but apparently not. Well the news is that Jessica Simpson is in talks for the lead role.

According to oneindia she's looking at playing the Melanie Griffith character from the original.

When a secretary's idea is stolen by her boss, she seizes an opportunity to steal it back by pretending she has her boss's job.

Well more to the point she pretends to be her boss while her boss is off work with a broken leg, then she meets Harrison Ford and so on.

I guess at least they are finding a role that is more suited for her...but a remake of this?

I loved 'Working Girl', not a great film but fun to watch nonetheless. And thats despite Melanie Griffith's irritating voice. I suppose for this remake, they will introduce a much more modern office scenario with all these posh technologies, helping Miss Simpson. Isnt it exciting and thrilling to watch a secretary downloading from a Mac computer? :D

*sigh* I simply don't have words for this disappointing news. First, Jessica Simpson has NO business stepping in front of screen as an -er- actress, if that's what you'd like to call her. Second, I don't think this movie needs a remake. Leave it alone, it's fun weekend afternoon watch. My goodness the shoulder pads, heavy make-up and BIG hair are fantastic! Yea...I don't think we need to modernize this little piece of 80s movie fun.

Meli, I hope you sensed the sarcastic tone in my post? ;D

Just acting in a movie you are practicing empathy; you are imagining what it is like to be another human being...and for an audience to sit together and share the experience of another person's hopes and fears...Just the simple act of attending a movie is a world bettering act; a social learning.
