Sleeper Code for adults
Another interesting move today is the announcement that Warner Brothers are set to adapt a young adult novel into an adult franchise. Now there's an interesting change of tact. Sleeper Code is a novel by Tom Siengoski that will be reworked for the big screen and for a more mature audience.
The story looks at a guy who suffers from extreme narcolepsy, forcing him to remain indoors, even taught and working from home. One day his psychologist is murdered and his work files go missing, and suddenly he discovers that he hasn't been sleeping at all.
It's an interesting concept, although it would be more interesting to hear how far it goes from here. Variety have it through Coming Soon, although there's no news yet who is involved other than the producers and the writer Jason Keller.
I am interesting in the idea of rewriting it as a more adult offering. Imagine Harry Potter as an adult series, about the same material, but firmly aimed at an adult audience, could it be made a better series? I'm going to keep my eyes open for this one, sounds like a great idea and a strong storyline.
