Stahl joins telepathic thriller
Nick Stahl is set to star in a film called The Speed Of Thought which has an interesting premise regarding telepathic skills and the Government.
There's an old theory that the various agencies in various countries used readers to try and gain a spying advantage, often distance readers were talked about, people who could draw or reproduce photos on film of faraway places using the so called power of telepathy. Well now we're set to get a film about it starring Stahl as one of these people.
According to Variety through Empire, the story...
...focuses on Joshua Lazarus..., a “scoper” with special telepathic skills. He’s been raised in an NSA foster home for gifted kids and works willingly for the government even as he is told that his abilities are a side effect of Widmann’s Disease, and that it’ll slowly drive him insane before he dies from the illness. But then he meets a woman with similar powers (Hustle And Flow's Taryn Manning), who has them without any sign of the disease and realises that – whoops – his entire life has been a lie!
Well as long as they don't get involved and what not, I'd hate this to turn into standard stuff or for it to follow Firestarter territory, but it does have quite a bit of potential. What's betting though they go on the run and use their powers to escape and keep the agency away from them? Let's hope there's something more interesting in that script.
