The Marine trailer online

JohnCena.jpgThe trailer for The Marine, the latest WWE movie starring John Cena is now online, and you know what? It looks like a lot of fun.

The last WWE film I saw was with The Rock starring in Walking Tall, and call me crazy if you want, but I really enjoyed it and thought that Rock was pretty damn good in it. Not as good as Neal McDonough, but still very good.

So the question is will Cena do just as well? He's certainly got presence in that huge frame of his, and the delivery of his short lines in the trailer doesn't let him down. Yet something tells me there's not going to be a lot of Shakespeare in this, just plenty of guns, explosions and great one liners. Sign me up for some of that.

Most of the one liners look set to come from Robert Patrick who is playing the lead bad guy, and he looks like he's having a whale of a time in the film.

You can see the trailer over at Yahoo Movies through Jo Blo. What do you think? Lot's of dumb fun, or just too much macho rubbish?

Count me in. Everybody needs a little mindless entertainment now and then, and this looks like it could fit the bill. I too enjoyed The Rock's Walking Tall, especially Neal McDonough - he was really good.

In fact, I've enjoyed most of the movies The Rock has appeared in. They're no Oscar winners, they're not fantastic and engaging masterpieces, but they're fun!

This too looks much the same with a hint of Kurt Russell's Breakdown thrown in, and Robert Patrick is always reliable.

My only beef with ALL of these films is WHY do they have to incorporate wrestling moves into the fight scenes?!

Robert Patrick is one of my favorite actors. He surprised the heck out of me in Walk the Line, Xfiles ( Dogget was better than Mulder anyday )...he's also been in LOST and 24 here lately!!! What a guy.

I'm pensive about these Wrestler movies...but I'm sure they're all going to be great big fun. Have any of them been released yet? I heard tripple H (or HHH) [or Tripple Aithche] {[or however you spell his name}] is going to be in one...

There has been talk of Triple H starring in a new Conan or He-Man movie. Both would be suitable. Little acting talent would be really required (although in saying that you can't make it as a top wrestler unless you have some chops), and he certainly has the build.

So far he has starred in Blade: Trinity and is slated to appear in Jornada del Muerte (Journey of the Deadman).

I'm in as well. It looks like a lot of fun.

Robert Patrick looks greatas always and Cena certainly has the look, presence and charisma of an action hero.

I enjoyed most of The Rock's movies. Cena may not be like The Rock but he certainly have potential to be a good action type guy.

The trailer looks pretty good and I'm sold.

thanks spideyfan. and yep. he'd be great in conan.

Wrestling isn't my thing, but my brother loved it, so by default I had to watch it. And interesting thing about pro wrestlers:

their facial mannerisms are so over the top ( so you can see them even when you're in the back row in the arena ) that they really don't qualify as "good actors" or even moderate talent.

But here's what amazes me. Their humanity and vunerability shows through, albeit sometimes dumbly, when they're in movies. It's hard not to like Hulk Hogan in Suburban Commando despite his overacting. The Rock ( a fine actor i think ) has little top shelf talent but IMO is one of the most lovable screen personalities out there.

i think it's that they know instinctively how to play to the crowd. maybe that comes across through the silver screen more than pure acting talent now and then?
