The trailer for the film The Queen is online now. The Stephen Frears film looks at the British Royal family after the death of Princess Diana, attempting to tell a fictional based on events tale.

The trailer is over at Apple [QT:S:M:L:480p:720p:1080p:iPod] and looks pretty good. Helen Mirren looks and sounds surprisingly close to Her Majesty.

However, the story of the director and writer saying that they can't understand this desire to find the truth in the tale and just to accept it's a movie rings hollow after seeing the trailer.

How can you, after seeing that, not think of real events? It's impossible. There are extremely real events dramatised, events that affected a large population, the death of Princess Diana and the Royal involvement afterwards, and the British Queen herself. I think it's incredibly nieve of the filmmakers to expect the public not to make this connection or assumption when they have gone to so much effort to make it in the first place.
