Trailer for Eastwood's WWII films online

FlagsofourFathers.jpgBack to Clint Eastwood, the first combined trailer for his duet of World War II films is now online. Flags of Our Fathers and Red Sun, Black Sand/Letters from Iwo Jima, show opposing sides of the conflict on Iwo Jima. Eastwood directed both films and shared producer resonsibilities with Steven Spielberg and Rob Lorenz.

Flags of our Father stars Ryan Phillippe, Jesse Bradford and Jamie Bell. It follows the battle at Iwo Jima from the perspective of Easy Company, focusing on the men who raised the American flag on the island. Red Sun, Black Sand, or Letters from Iwo Jima as it may end up being titled, focuses on the Japanese side, in particular the Japanese General Tadamichi Kuribayashi. He led the Japanese troops on the island; Ken Watanabe plays him. Flags of our Fathers is out in America in October with Red Sun, Black Sand following in December.

The trailer is on the Japanese Warner Bros website, through Coming Soon.

The trailer looks impressive. I like the Japanese part in particular. I admire Japanese fellows, and this War was a tragedy for both sides. Really exciting movie/s. And with Spielberg aiding, this is a must.

I'm really looking forward to these movies, the idea of two together looking at the different sides of the same conflict is very interesting, but directed by Eastwood just makes it irresistible.

The Japanese story tells that of the General who commanded the defense of the island against the US troops for forty days, and the US story tells that of the attack on the island and the fate of those who are famous for raising that flag.

The teaser looks gorgeous, extremely cinematical, and that double viewpoint could make the story very exciting.

This could mark the pinnacle of Eastwood's career as well as that of World War II films.

*goosebumps*

There are just no words. I am still stunned.

Do you think it will beat Saving Private Ryan, Simone? ;)

I had that deja vu feeling when I was watching the trailer actually. I loved SPR, it's my 3rd favorite film for all time. If this film turns out to be just as good (or even better) then it could easily make it to my Top 10, and that's just basing it on the trailer!
