United 93 2-Disc DVD details

United93_Poster.jpgUnited 93 (review) was a very powerful and moving film, and one which I really enjoyed watching, although it did make for incredibly uncomfortable viewing. Details have been released today of the double disc DVD offering that will be out on September the 5th, and will offer a couple of additional documentaries of events that terrible day.

MoviesOnline carry the details of the DVD release:

"Chasing Planes: Witnesses to 9/11" is a riveting 48-minute documentary that chronicles the myriad of experiences, personal dedication and touching insight of the civilian and military ground control personnel on that fateful day...The documentary examines in detail the chain of events involving the four airline flights that were hijacked on 9/11...

"United 93: The Families and the Film" is a 50-minute documentary containing intimate interviews that focus on the families and the actors discussing the emotional challenges of bringing the personalities of the passengers and the flight crew members to life...

Both sound incredibly strong and moving and will compliment the film offering as well as providing a very emotional memorial to those that gave their lives and those that were scarred by the events of that day. I'm always one that believes we should not forget any events of such great impact or importance such as these, and so an offering such as this is one I do look forward to. What are your thoughts on the extras on the DVD and their relevance to the film?

Just don't see myself getting this on DVD - as much as I enjoyed (if that's the right word to use) this film in the cinema, my immediate thought after the end credits was that it's not something I think I could watch again or want to watch again if that makes any sense.

I had that feeling, Jayne, after watching Flight 93, which I'd bought on DVD.

Will it mean I won't buy United 93? I haven't seen it, so will that sway the decision? Don't know yet, I'll wait and see.

I stayed away from it because I knew how it would make me feel. Richard warned me to have somebody around, but none of my friends felt they should watch it just yet. I might add it on to my rental queue, all in good time.

The extras sounds really strong. I didn't get a chance to catch this in the cinema but I do want to see it. Luckily I'm in America until September 8 so I'll pick it up while I'm there.

I was going to buy the R2 release, but the artwork looks far too colourful for this movie. It reminds me of the DVD artwork for Just Like Heaven and I .

The 2-disc Region 1 artwork is beautiful.

And in Spain is yet to be released at cinemas... What a shame!

Man, "uncomfortable" doesn't begin to describe it. I saw a preview of it today and, obviously, I knew it was going to be heavy, but I was still shattered by it at the end. I see what Jayne means, though, as I'm not sure I would want to sit through it a second time either.

I finally figured out today's movie rating system: G means the hero gets the girl; R means the villain gets the girl, and X means everybody gets the girl.
