Will Smith links Hollywood to Bollywood

WillSmith.jpgWill Smith's production company have reportedly signed a deal with Indian production company UTV to produce two movies together with Sony onboard for distribution.

One will be a live action and the other a CG animated film, according to JAM! Movies the budgets are:

...combined $30 million...live-action film with a $10 million budget...CG animated project with a $20 million budget.

Well it makes sense, Bollywood out earns Hollywood and they should tap into this market and see why they do and how they do it. Perhaps Hollywood could learn something...oh come on, they're just looking to earn something.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any plans for Smith to be in either film.

I still need to sit down and watch an indian film. I've never seen one.

It's good to see that there are now other places in the world where creativity is being tapped, ala Hollywood. When there was just one place, and that was Hollywood itself, it made for some very standard movie going fare.

It's been here recently, with the advent of films like Open Water and Blair Witch that pretty much all production companies (had better) have started upping their diversity. And it's all for the good.

very interesting that the Smithster is involved though. I do wonder what this means for his career and future.

I don't have any evidence to show it but I got it from a fellow film fan who is also Indian that M. Night Shyamalan tried to bring his films to his fellow countrymen but was not successful. I wonder why that is.

I have only seen bits of 'Bride and Prejudice', and it's... not really my kind of film.
