Casting: Yeoh, Hunt and Carrey
Here's the general casting news round up from Filmstalker. Michelle Yeoh joins Babylon A.D. and True North, Helen Hunt is set to direct her first film, and Jim Carrey is starring in another Dr Seuss film.
Moviehole: Yeoh is set to become the major breadwinner at home, as Jean Todt is set to leave Ferrari Formula 1, Yeoh is set to star alongside Vin Diesel and Vincent Cassel in Babylon A.D., the next sci-fi outing for Diesel. However she's not being backed into a corner as she also stars in True North alongside Sean Bean in a tale about a woman and a young girl who's quiet lives are altered by the arrival of a soldier. Bean! Superb!
Variety through Empire: Hunt is set to begin her directorial debut with a novel adaptation of Elinor Lipman's And Then She Found Me after spending eight years getting the project together, including writing the screenplay. She's already got Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler, Colin Firth. Great cast for her first film.
Cinemablend: Carrey is set to return to the world of Dr Seuss in the tale of Horton Hears a Who!, a story about an elephant who hears a cry from a spec of dust and then sets about trying to protect the microscopic creatures he has discovered - how very buddhist of him. Frankly this interests me about as much as a fart in the wind. Grinch looked painful enough. I wonder why Carrey didn't keep his good choices going after The Truman Show, Man on the Moon and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
