Joker Ledger hates comic book movies
Heath Ledger, the man set to play Joker in the new Batman film The Dark Knight, says he hates comic books. Hates them enough to star in a film of one and collect the pay cheque, hold on a moment while I alienate half my audience.
According to Dark Horizons through Star Online (how I missed this originally I don't know):
"I actually hate comic book movies, like [Removed swearing - RB] hate them, they just bore me [Removed swearing - RB] and they're just dumb. But I thought what Chris Nolan did with Batman was actually really good, really well directed, and Christian Bale was really great in it."
So then you can't hate them can you? That's like me saying I hate all films about cowboys, but I like Unforgiven, and Brokeback Mountain, and Pale Rider, and...and...Yes I know there's less good choices in the comic book adaptation world, but there are also less films. Give it time and good writers and directors, but you can't say they're all rubbish and you think they're dumb when they've produced Spider-Man, Superman, Batman, V for Vendetta, etc.
I do hope he was misquoted, or some comic fans are going to be a bit miffed at him to say the least. Mind you, should he be entitled to air that opinion while leaping into a comic role?
