The A Team movie delayed

TheATeam.jpgThe A Team movie is not going anywhere fast, and it’s all down to the script. Bruce Feirstein had been given the job of writing the script, but it would appear that it hasn’t worked out.

Empire has spoken to the Series creator Stephen J Cannell and he had this to say about the script.

We were working on a script for a few years but I didn't like it so it's been thrown out, we’ve gone through a lot of scripts that we haven’t been happy with for one reason or another. We had one scriptwriter who had never even watched the show! The studio was adamant about employing him but he just took the title and began to write anything he wanted, completely departing from the original show. The studio didn’t like it and neither did I.

Cannell also mentions that they will be setting the new film in a modern setting, and that he hopes the old A Team will be in the film in some capacity. It’s encouraging that they aren’t settling for any old script, and they seem to be taking their time and making sure that the end product will be the best they can make it. Do you think it will be worth the wait? Any casting preferences?

Um... pity, because this is exactly the kind of series that could lead to a nice movie!

Heh. Hopefully the new writer will work out.

I reckon Steve Buscemi could do a good Murdoch.

My lord. The story of the A-Team becoming a movie was my first ever article written, and that was way back - 15/10/2004!

I guess they're just not going to get this made.

Suggestion is that Bruce Willis might play Hannibal...I love the Buscemi for Murdoch choice Louise!

I've longed for an A-Team movie for SO long. As far as I remember, a radio show here in Ireland were asking their listeners to text the show and "cast" the A-Team movie, and I'm almost sure they too came up with Buscemi as Murdoch.

Another good choice in my opinion would be Jim Carrey.

That would work. I can't figure out Face though. It would have to be some pretty boy like Brad Pitt or Josh Hartnett, oooh I know Chrisian Bale.

I was thinking Brad Pitt too, and maybe George Clooney for Hannibal. But that's just too Ocean's Eleven.

Oh. That may have been done in Oceans, but that is inspired Spidey\Louise - I love that! Who would be the other choices then?

For me, it would have to be.....

Col. John "Hannibal" Smith - George Clooney / Philip Seymour Hoffman
Sgt. Bosco "Bad Attitude" Baracus - Samuel L. Jackson
Capt. H.M. "Howling Mad" Murdoch - Jim Carrey / Steve Buscemi
Lt. Templeton "Faceman" Peck - Brad Pitt

Oooh...I would prefer Ving Rhames as B.A.

Definitely not Carrey for Murdoch, he'd just be too much for the part, but I do like the Hoffman idea. There's a cool choice.

I couldn't think of anyone else for B.A. Now that you mention him, Ving Rhames would be great. What are the odds we'd pick two guys from Pulp Fiction for the role?

Jim Carrey has definitely proven that he has great acting chops. If he could find the right balance between his acting and comic antics, I think he'd be a winner!

PS. Welcome back Richard! Hope you had a nice break

Mine would be.

Bruce Willis as Hannibal, Christian Bale as Face, Steve Buscemi as Murdoch and Michael Clarke Duncan as B.A.

i think it would be a bad idea for the movie as it wouldn`t be the same just like as the cack they made of the dukes of hazard but if there is to be one face could be sawyer from lost for face

Here are my picks:

Bruce Willis or George Clooney as Hannibal, Christian Bale or Mark Walberg as Face, Steve Buscemi or Jim Carrey as Murdoch and Michael Clarke Duncan or Ice Cube as B.A.

mel gibson for hannibal
matt damon for face
owen wilson for murdoch
Shaq for B.A

jim carrey sux ass

Ok, so far the only good one I've heard was Bruce Willis for Hannibal. And maybe Jim Carrey as Murdoch. That is, he would be ok, but I was born to play Howlin' Mad. Yep, that's right. I'm the perfect pick for Murdoch, so let the masses know that the perfect unknown is out here and was born for the role! As for Face, none of the suggestions fit. You can't just think somebody's good looking and throw their name out. You have to think of the personality of the character also. Good Lord, all the suggestions sucked. And Owen Wilson for Murdoch? That would ruin the movie. His personality and acting style do not match the character. Now Michael Clarke Duncan for B.A.? That's an idea... Maybe even Tiny Lister from Friday instead of Ice Cube... that's an idea, too.

I enjoyed this series for its time but I am not crazy about any of the cast choices listed above. Dwight Shultz was great as HM because he was able to to draw a fine line of not going over the top and still play his crazy characters. Carrey can't seem to do this. And please dont bring in Will Farell. Clooney has been siggested as Hannibal but he does not have the flair or sense of jest, and fun as GP. Mel Gibson is far to serious for himself. Bruce Willis no way. Why not ask the guvenator As for Face it was NOT his so looks that made the role. The first first guy they had, Tim Dungian, was a pretty face and he was terrible. Dirks had nice comic ability to draw the role with develish impertinece, jest and timing that really made it. As for T he was an entity unto himself. An original. If they could get the old cast -maybe- but like so many other reruns put on the big screen most dont work. The blend of characters working together made it enjoyable. I like the idea of movie and yes it probably will make money for the studio but reality is it will likley join the long list of remade tv to big screen duds no matter how long Mr Cannell takes to put a script together. I fear the result will result will be the B team.

Mark Walberg
Ice Cube
Jim Carrey or Owen Wilson

This is an ultimate Team and one worthy of the the task. [Removed blatant advertising to URL - Richard]

my pics are Bruce Willis for hannibal; Jim Carrey for Murdoch; Ving Rhames as BA and so far im stuck as who should play face but i definitly would be upset if rhames wasnt BA

A few of my personal favorites would be:

John "Hannibal" Smith:
George Clooney or Mel Gibson

Templeton "Faceman" Peck:
Josh Holloway or Ryan Reynolds

"Howling Mad" Murdoch:
Alan Cumming, John C. McGinley, Jason Lee, Jim Carrey

Bosco "B.A." Baracus:
Ice Cube

William Peterson
Christian Bale
Woody Harralson
Ice Cube

i definately think something a little different for the cast.

Hannibal smith - definately George clooney

Face - Daniel Craig

Murdoch - I agree with Jim Carrey

BA - either king Booker (the wrestler) or Michael duncan smith (big bloke from green mile and scorpion king)

I don't feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from the Indians. Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.
