Columbus to return to Potter?

HarryPotter.jpgThe rumour is out that perhaps Christopher Columbus is to return to the world of Harry Potter for one of the last films in the series.

This'll have to be after Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince as David Yates is in talks to direct that film after finshing on Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

What makes this a bit more solid than the average rumour is that it comes directly from Rupert Grint aka Ron Weasley, in an interview at JewReview through /Film

The first two movies were not my favourite, and they felt very light and rested heavily on an existing relationship with the books and Potter, as such they just didn't work for me at all.

I'm not particularly interested to see Columbus return, and that's not helped by the fact that I really haven't taken to any of his films. How do you Potter fans feel? Who would you like to see directing the remaining films?

I hate hate hate Chris Columbus. The first two Harry Potter movies sucked... and that's a pretty strong statement coming from a diehard fan. I thought that it was so dependent on the books that there was no art. I loved the third and fourth movies, though. So Chris Columbus coming back is not good at all. Look what he did to Rent! He commercialised it and hashed it into little bits. The best I can say about that movie is that they kept the majority of the original cast, and that was great. Everything else about it stunk. The same goes for the Harry Potter first two movies: good cast, crappy movie.
