DePalma's Untouchables sequel
There's some news today about Brian DePalma's prequel to his own 1987 film The Untouchables, this is called The Untouchables: Capone Rising. So you can guess who it's about.
According to Variety through Coming Soon, the story has a nice US$70million budget and will feature Al Capone's rise to power and his relationship with police detective Jimmy Malone who is dead set to try and bring him to justice.
The film is set to start shooting in June and was written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien who between them carry such films as Waking Tall and Ocean's Thirteen.
I'm thinking that this could have a lot going for it since DePalma is in the driving seat again, if it was anyone else I'd be inclined to scream cheap sequel. Do you feel the same?
