Phoenix director on Half-Blood Prince?

DanielRadcliffe-PotterAges.jpgThere's a rumour sent in from a single anonymous source, so salt cellars ready please, that David Yates is set to direct Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince after he completes Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. (Did you know Harry Potter was in both?)

According to a reader who scooped the story for MoviesOnline:

I have been informed and confirmed that David Yates director of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has been asked to return for the next film and is expected to accept.

This news should be revealed very shortly, but I also have been informed that filming for this movie is expected to start in May of 2007, this is two months before the release of Order of the Phoenix. I’ve been told this is to keep with the kids real life ages compared to there characters ages as much as possible. Half-Blood Prince will be released on November 21st of 2008.

That's a great scoop if it turns out to be right, and according to him we're going to find out in the next few days. Interesting that they've decided to speed up production in order to keep the ages matched - I've harped on about that a few times before and been gunned down, seems the studio are thinking the same. Maybe it's becoming too hard for the make up teams to keep them looking so young.

It's hard to know what to make of this story, especially considering we won't have seen Phoenix when Half-Blood Prince starts up. I'll update as soon as we, or our friends at MoviesOnline, hear.
