Paul Abbott, the writer of the BBC drama series State of Play, has just announced that Brad Pitt is definitely set to play the journalist Cal McCaffrey in the political thriller which has won much recognition and a few awards.

The story is about a group of journalists investigating the mysterious death of a political researcher, and as they investigate the trail leads higher and higher.

According to the BBC, Abbot spoke to Pitt on the phone about the role out of the blue, and it seems to have escalated from there.

It'll be interesting to see how they handle this film version, I presume the whole story will uproot to America? Could it work?
