Ben Affleck promises no Daredevil 2

BenAffleck.jpgWhat a superb piece of news from Ben Affleck, he's promised us that he won't be appearing in any Daredevil sequel, and in fact he'll never appear in a superhero film again. Xmas has come early.

At the press screening of Hollywoodland in London he said:

"By playing a superhero in Daredevil, I have inoculated myself from ever playing another superhero...Wearing a costume was a source of humiliation for me and something I wouldn't want to do again soon."

The comment comes from /Film and couldn't make me happier.

Come to think of it, that's probably why he never looked right in that part, he was too self concious and uncomfortable in the part.

I still think that Daredevil is a superb character to make into a film, but they should pick a meaty storyline and bring that to the screen, not only that get someone who can be convincing in the part and don't resort to answering machines in the opening scene to give us the entire plot history blurted out in five seconds!...Calm Richard...

Mind you, as much as I don't like Affleck, I have to say it looks like he could redeem himself well in Hollywoodland, and Smokin' Aces.

That aside, surely you must agree it's a great thing he's not coming back to Daredevil?

I used to like him, this was during the Good Will Hunting/Shakespeare in Love phase. It was painful to watch him try to act in films like Jersey Girl or even playing the younger Jack Ryan in The Sum of All Fears.

After winning the Venice Film Festival Best Actor for Hollywoodland, my interest to see him in a film has been revived, I just want to check if those acting lessons eventually worked eh Ben?

Ehr... I liked Daredevil. I wouldn´t mind watching a sequel. At least, it was a million times better than the preposterous Elektra. But, after the Venice Prize, this is understandable.

I actually Liked Ben Affleck in the role. It's not his fault the script sucked. He also is only saying no cause execs want DareDevil to be family friendly. He also has said he would consider reprising the role if they made the movies Darker and Grittier like the comics. Plus rumor is he is upset he didn't get the role of Batman.
