Home of the Brave trailer online
Home of the Brave is a film from Irwin Winkler that is set to examine the lives and minds of US soldiers returning from Iraq and trying to readjust to normal, everyday life, and the trailer is now online.
The film has an interesting cast, Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, 50 Cent (daft name, bit too cheap if you ask me) and Christina Ricci. From watching the trailer you can see that this is going to be a dramatic piece, but I was concerned when the music came on. Although I love that song it just didn't seem to fit and it felt like it had the wrong tone for what I was expecting. Maybe that's down to me expecting the wrong thing, and aybe the film is all about the relationships and only the instigating factor is the war, it certainly reads like that.
Music aside it certainly is tackling a hefty issue, and I really do hope that it shows what all soldiers, US or otherwise, have to face when they come home from war. It'll be interesting to see how Mark Friedman's first script holds out and how well Winkler directs the film.
You can see the trailer over at the official site [Flash:Embed], just choose trailer on the right hand side menu.
One thing I do hope is that it doesn't make itself too American and leaves itself accessible to other audiences. What do you think from the trailer?
