Look into Aronofsky's The Fountain
Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain has had quite a troubled road to the cinema so far, and in an article online that path and Aronofsky's passion behind the making of it is explored in quite some detail.
From the early conception to the issues with Brad Pitt, the studio, Cate Blanchett and the loss of all three, to the almost complete loss of the project, all the way through to the deep inspiration for the whole film, epic cinema and his parents mortality. The article is superbly written and very interesting to read, even if you're not an Aronofsky fan.
You can read the article over at Wired, and I shan't do it the unjustice of quoting it. It's a very interesting piece to read, especially prior to seeing the film itself.
Thanks to Martin for the pointer.
