The Host red band trailer online

TheHost_Poster.jpgThe Host (review) is perhaps one of the best horror films I've seen in ages, and I gave it such a rave review Filmstalker was swamped by Korean traffic. Seriously the film is superb, and there's not a word of a lie in that, it's getting rave reviews everywhere it goes, and to help you decide there's a red band trailer online for it right now.

Red band, by the way, means the trailer has been approved for restricted audiences only. I'm not sure if that means I have to be tied down when I'm watching it or not!

You can see the trailer from Kinetic Trailers [QT] through CHUD, and it's a corker.

What's really interesting about the trailers is that they never capture the film in its entirety because it's a miz of so many genres. This one certainly does capture the horror and thriller elements, but scenes you remember from the film are given a different feeling when watched through this trailer. I don't think any one trailer can do this film justice. All I can say is you really have to see this film.

As further evidence, over at HorrorMovies.ca, is that it has just picked up six awards in the Korean Film Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Special Effects, Best Cinematography, and some technical awards.

that's one thing that initially caught me out about korean films, the huge mix of genres, particularly the addition of comedy into serious drama - still, although you can see it very often, bong joon-ho is perhaps the best of the directors in korea right now at making solid genre-crossing stuff that still comes across well. initially i held off an early opportunity to go to london to see a screening, simply on time / convenience / cost issues, but thankfully the films playing local small cinemase through to mid-december, so going next monday. ordered the korean DVD too. nice.

Have you not seen it yet then? Oh I'm sure you're going to love it. I was blown away at how good it is.

not seen it, no - early next week, yes. i didn't like 'memories of murder' at first, because of the comedy - so i can see that being an issue for some with 'the host'. i love bong's 'barking dogs never bite' too - cracking film.
