Christophe Gans announces Silent Hill 2
The director of Silent Hill has confirmed that there's going to be a sequel. Roger Avary, the original writer, is hard at work on the film adaptation of the videogame Driver and once that is finished he'll turn to Silent Hill 2.
However Christophe Gans has said that he may be too busy on his adaptation of Onimusha. It seems this pair are trying to beat Uwe Boll for videogame adaptations. However there's something different about this pair, they make them work. Did you realise that on the list of horror films in 2006 Silent Hill was third in box office takings behind Saw 3 (Filmstalker review) and An American Haunting (Filmstalker review).
Gans has an extremely long interview over at dvdrama which has been roughly translated and had the important bits taken out over at Silent Hill Forum through Coming Soon.
Gans worked on the Silent Hill movie for a long time. In fact, he ended it 10 days after its US release which why they didn't have time to do bonus scenes (alternate endings, etc.).He doesn't want people to buy x different versions of a SH collector so he is going to make one after completing his Onimusha movie...
It's a really interesting interview as Gans talks about the mistakes that were made on the first one and the amount of interference they had. Still he promises that the producers have agreed to keep the style the same as the first, and there sounds like there could be some real hope for this. Would you want to see a sequel?
