So Matt Damon is saying he would play Kirk in the new Star Trek XI film by J.J. Abrams if he was asked, and continues to deny the rumours that he's already been/being considered.

I think that just concretes his denial. If he says he would like to play the iconic role but he hasn't been approached then surely he's telling the truth, after all if you would take the role wouldn't you be grinning and dropping subtle hints rather than going for all out denials?

As SciFi Wire says, it's still all speculation, and everything is regarding this film so far. After all there's not even a completed script yet, and Abrams has said he's keeping his decisions until after he sees that little puppy.

However, we're not a press release site, we're about discussion...so who would you want to play Kirk? Who would you want for Spock? Wait just a moment...who would you want for any of them? Beyoncé Knowles for Uhura for example?
