Depp to play Freddie Mercury?

FreddieMercury.jpgYou have to laugh at rumours sometimes, and the latest that Johnny Depp could play Freddie Mercury in a biographical film of his life is superb, and is apparently the second biographical musician film he'll be doing after playing Michael Hutchence from INXS.

Both are wild rumour at the moment, but the latest comes from Brian May the guitarist from Queen. Through Starpulse News Blog he says:

"Discussions are at an early stage. Johnny Depp is fantastic. He would be a worthy counterpart for Freddie on screen."

It does sound like he was specifically asked "How about Depp?", but perhaps it's meant to be taken with more humour than anything else. Depp as Mercury? I'm not so sure that would work. Sounds like continued press than anything.

(P.S. Apologies for the lack of timely stories today, I've travelled three hundred miles delivering presents...I'm bushed!)

300 miles? Thats a lot of traveling!

I am also not sure about this news.

As much as I love Johnny Depp the man simply cannot be casted in every movie! LoL
That's not to say IF he was cast he couldn't do the role and I could see him wanting to play this role should it come his way.

What I find most amusing is that lately every big role that needs to be cast gets a "Johnny Depp rumor to play..." story. LoL

I am getting sick and tired of it too Meli. I mean I believe Depp has the talent to pull it off but is the film industry so devoid of any other talent that it has to be Depp all the time?
