Elijah Wood and Hurt in Oxford Murders
Elijah Wood's career really hasn't been tainted by appearing as our favourite little Hobbit, in most other trilogies that are so big you would expect someone to be typecast - not in roles as Hobbit but in similar fantasy and epic films - but not Wood. He's moved immediately to some smaller roles that were quite a gamble, like Green Street (Filmstalker review) and built his career right back up again.
According to Yahoo News, now he's appearing next to the great John Hurt in a film by director Álex de la Iglesia in a thriller entitled Oxford Murders.
The story comes from the novel by Guillermo Martinez which, according to IMDB goes something like this:
At Oxford University, a professor (Hurt) and a grad student work together to try and stop a potential series of murders seemingly linked by mathematical symbols.
I presume that Wood will be playing the student working with Hurt. I've heard of this story I'm sure. However the really great thing is for Wood's career, starring alongside Hurt is a hell of a way to come from the Hobbit.
