Two things:

1) In spite of my running a semi-gaming blog, I will not be submitting myself for this film as I come nowhere close to the type of people they want. The term "hardcore gamer" used to be synonymous with people who appreciated gaming to the point where they owned multiple systems and enjoyed a variety of different styles of gameplay and genres. These days the term has been diluted to the obsessive WoW types and the people that buy every Sims expansion that comes out. I might be off base, but I think their criteria is too broad for what they are really looking for. I hope they don't paint games in one color as we really are a more diverse group than Madden and WWII fanatics. A hardcore WoW player, however, is a poor choice to focus on as that game can have serious debilitating effects on a person's social and personal life.

2) The name of the movie makes it sound like something completely unrelated to videogames. ;)

Yeah, I found myself wondering what it was all about Dave, it did seem to be spreading its net pretty wide.

I think they'll be looking for people who are totally obsessed with games, those who immerse themselves in an online game or environment and become someone totally different from their normal life.

I might have thought about it when I was playing the King of the realm in the MUD I played for years, but now I'm a much more casual gamer, whatever of the three systems I'm on.

The other worrying thing, as you point out, is that it might just be out to portray gamers in a poor light.
