More Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles casting

TMNT.jpgThe new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles film has just gained more big names. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Zhang Ziyi, Chris Evans, Kevin Smith and none other than Patrick Stewart have joined up as voice talent.

Gellar plays April, the human who helps the turtles out. Ziyi voices a baddie called Karai who leads the Foot Ninjas. Evans will play the hockey stick wielding Casey Jones. Stewart will play another villain, Max Winters who is a tech industrialist who is amassing an army of monsters. Smith will be doing a short cameo as the voice of a greasy spoon cafe chef.

The story comes from the USA Today through Superhero Hype. USA Today also carry the above picture in a much larger size and one of Karai and her foot soldiers.

The director Kevin Munroe explains the choice of total CGI for the Turtles as complete immersion for the audience, to see a mix isn't quite as believable, and a total CGI film is much more acceptable to the audience:

"...there's no break in the reality between CG and live-action...With (total) animation, there's a continuous reality that exists for the whole thing. Your mind opens up a little bit more."

I agree, and I think the teaser trailer looked a lot of fun. I might actually be tempted more by this than rubber suits.
