Braff talks Fletch, Scrubs and Fast Track
Zach Braff has just posted The Most Awesomest Blog Ever Written post on his blog and while it probably isn't entirely true to say that, there are some interesting titbits about the new name for the delayed Fast Track, the new film he's set to direct, a possible Scrubs return and an update on Fletch Won!
Okay, you got me Braff, it actually is the most awesomest post ever...today. So let's just leap through some of the things he's been saying.
We already new Fast Track has been delayed because all the stars can't get the schedule to promote the film, and the studio have taken this time to change the name.
The studio always hated the title, because the movie has nothing to do with a fast track. Nothing to do with tracks or fastness at all. So since we moved the date they seized the opportunity to change the name to “The Ex”, since it is indeed about a nightmare ex-boyfriend (Jason Bateman) who tortures a current boyfriend, me (Zach Braff).
So Fast Track becomes The Ex in a blink of an eye. That must be a nightmare for the marketing department, but at least they will have the time with the stars to promote the new film.
Open Hearts is the next film I will direct. Just trying to figure out my 2007. The schedule keeps getting moved around (see above/below) so I’m not sure when yet. It will depend on Scrubs coming back and if I act in a movie in the spring.
Scrubs coming back?!...
Not sure yet. I would do another year if all the right pieces fall into place. For example: Bill Lawrence staying on as the creator/head writer, some scheduling tweaks, etc… We will know more in the next month.
Back up a moment though, did you say acting in a movie in the spring? Did you mean Fletch?
I don’t know on this yet either. Bill Lawrence is writing and directing Fletch in the spring and he wants me to play young Fletch, but no firm plans are in place yet. He is still writing the script.
Bets down, I'm saying he'll do it. It's such an iconic role, Lawrence is writing and directing, and if he'd go back to Scrubs because of him then I can't see him turning down this superb role...can you?
