Away back in July of last year I wrote about Jessica Alba replacing Renée Zellweger in the remake of the Asian horror The Eye, and for what seems like an age we've heard nothing. Well now it appears the filming is going ahead and there's a casting call for shaved extras!

I think that this remake has some potential. The original film Gin gwai (The Eye) was very good although faltered in the final act somewhat, and the remake has Sebastian Gutierrez as writer and David Moreau and Xavier Palud as directors, the pair that wrote and directed the excellent Ils (Filmstalker review). It's also being produced by Tom Cruise's production company and Alba has reportedly, from Contact Music, received a US$4 million paycheck for it, so it's got plenty of backing.

The original is about a woman who has eye transplants from a donor who had psychic abilities. Pretty soon she's seeing into the supernatural world and people who are soon to be dead.

According to Fangoria through Dread Central, the casting call is for people who are willing to have their entire body shaved...and then stand naked next to Alba...I'm in!

Producers are looking for people to play "Shadowy Figures." They want androgynous, slender, younger (20-40) males and females of any ethnicity. There are no lines, but actors will be trained in movement; dancers a plus. You must be willing to shave/wax your entire body and head (bald). This involves partial nudity (i.e., nude-style bodysuit) and you may be flown to Los Angeles to have prostetic fittings special-made to cover body parts.
