Ferrara's Driller Killer remade

DrillerKiller.jpgDriller Killer is a film that conjures a lot of images and ideas. The 1979 Abel Ferrara film screams of that period of really on the edge horror films that are instant cult hits, and even though I never saw it I always heard it was scary and gory. I suspect that this is not so true today though.

...and so, without surprise, word comes of a remake. Yes, another one. Driller Killer is set for a complete rework and will become a psychological thriller...with a drill.

According to Twitch Andrew Jones is set to write the GB£2.5million remake and it will appear next year. The film will follow and study the lead character as he descends into complete madness.

Now remakes of films like Lost Boys I just don't get, but remakes of films like this could work, especially when they take a fresh look at the story. What do you think? Destruction of a cult classic, or a possible interesting new film?
