Hoskins and Pertwee in Marshall's Doomsday
The cracking Bob Hoskins has been announced as joining the gorgeous ex-Tomb Raider Rhona Mitra in Neil Marshall's latest film Doomsday.
I'm a huge fan of Marshall's already, his scripting and direction is so natural and fun to watch, and he's shown that he can really master a genre with both Dog Soldiers and The Descent (Filmstalker review). Now he's tackling science fiction, action and thriller...if you really are one of those categorising people over at IMDB! Here's their write up of the film:
Great Britain, 2007. A deadly plague, known as the "Reaper Virus," has broken out, killing hundreds of thousands in its wake. In desperation, the British Government evacuates as many survivors as it can out of the infected area, and then builds a wall, preventing the remainder from escaping. Thirty years later, with the wall still up and the victims all but forgotten, the virus breaks out again. The Government decides to send a crack team of operatives, led by Major Eden Sinclair, into the hot zone to investigate the possibility of a cure.
Sounds perfect for Marshall, science fiction or not it's got a feeling of the work he's done to date which is great news as far as I'm concerned.
Okay all this is very exciting but there's something I'm missing out. The superb Sean Pertwee is going to be in the film too, and that really does excite me. In fact according to the story in Coming Soon there are a lot of cast returning.
...Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby, and Chris Robson, of Dog Soldiers; MyAnna Buring and Nora-Jane Noone of The Descent; and, from both pictures, Leslie Simpson and Craig Conway...Also joining the production are Alexander Siddig ("24") and Adrian Lester ("Hustle").
Now that is great. Pertwee and Hoskins in a Marshall film. I'm salivating.
