Joffé's Captivity trailer online

ElishaCuthbert.jpgThere's an extremely rough trailer online for Elisha Cuthbert's film Captivity, and when I say rough I mean really rough. It carries a message at the start that says the footage is taken from the dailies of the film and that it is now in post production, so there's loads of temporary elements. Still, it's the first look, and I'm rather surprised.

I had thought that this might be a typical idea, but there seem to be some really interesting turns in the film, and it could turn out to be rather good.

The film is about a top model who is taken hostage, along with a man who she doesn't know, by some unknown killer. His modus operandi (oooh!) is something along the lines of keeping them for four days before killing them, and in that time he toys with them, pushes them to their limits, and learns about them. It all looks pretty spooky and Cuthbert isn't sitting back taking it either.

You can see the trailer just below, it's over five minutes of footage from the rough cut dailies...

Thanks to michalz00 from Movie List Forums for the heads up.

The quality isn't great, but the ideas are all there, and I think there's a fair bit to come from this film, especially when you see the name Roland Joffé in the directing chair. This is the man who brought us The Scarlet Letter, The Mission and The Killing Fields. It also comes from the writers of Cellular, Phone Booth, Best Seller, to name but a few.

I think we might be in for something above the norm here, and not just pandering to a similarly themed idea. What do you think after this rough footage?
