Jones talks the turn of Silver Surfer

SilverSurfer.jpgDoug Jones has been talking about his role as Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and he does give away a little more about the turn of his character from herald of the planet eating Galactus to his own man/creature.

According to an interview in The Windsor Star through Superhero Hype he says:

"I'm interacting with the Fantastic Four quite a bit -- mostly with Jessica Alba, as Sue Storm. We have a three-page scene that's actually sweet and touching, when she's trying to get through to him."

There's not much else in the interview, apart from talking about Abe Sapien in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army and that the make up process is even more exhausting than last. Three make up artists for seven hours! That must be the most mind numbing time ever. What if you get itchy or need the toilet?

The news above about the Surfer isn't Earth shattering (get it?) but it is interesting to see that it's most likely Sue Storm that helps him to gain an affinity with the human race. Nice to know someone will end up liking us, after all we don't even like each other.

If Surfer gets his own film after this it is going to be interesting to see if Jones' associated character becomes the Surfer rather than Sapien. I think it certainly has the potential to be the bigger role and a great franchise, if the Four don't spoil him.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."
- Jack Burton, Big Trouble in Little China
