Maguire to sell his soul online

TobeyMaguire.jpgWe've already heard that the story about the guy who traded a paper clip for a house is getting a film made of his quest, well now it looks like the guy who has sold his soul online is getting a film too, all thanks to Tobey Maguire.

The word is that Maguire has bought the rights to his story after Gerald Fraller started selling his soul on his website, Winmysoul.com, Maguire became interested and started talking about buying the rights. Well now he has them and the film looks like it's going ahead.

Variety have the story and say that Fraller is doing a bit more than just selling his soul, he's doing a bit more than that, and some more physical things too...

Fraller is promising a percentage of annual future earnings (minimum $500), the right to name future kids and the right to pen the inscription on his headstone.

On his site he claims to have received 3,690 bids and eight marriage proposals, the winner of the soul selling is announced in November, and by then the film will be well underway.

The producers are still working out where to take the story, on screen that is, but Robert Kosberg has already suggested that the lead character will sell his soul and then find out that it wasn't such a good idea after all. Perhaps the Devil was bidding?

Movable Type 3.34

It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand. But, then again... perhaps I have the strength after all. DROP... YOUR... SWORD!
- Westley, The Princess Bride
