Michell explains leaving Bond 22

CasinoRoyale-AstonMartin.jpgApparently Roger Michell walked away from the production of Bond 22, that's the one after Casino Royale (Filmstalker review) and the second Daniel Craig Bond film, citing creative differences with the producers. Originally he was rumoured to be in negotiations and then pulled out.

However now he's revealed that it was more to do with his concern over the release date:

"I got into a bit of a panic at the prospect. At that time, the film was due to start shooting in January, and I just felt this terrible pressure of scrambling to get a script together with the clock ticking. To go into a film like James Bond when you don't really know what's happening would be a recipe for hell."

The story comes from MI6.

Since the date has been pulled back and they're going to miss that superb date of 2007 - who in the hell mis-planned that? Sack them all now! - he could well put himself back in the running, but would he?

Remember a while back that I wrote that Richard Curtis might be writing the script for this new Bond. It looks set to be an interesting film, but how could they have missed that 007 date?
