Murphy joins NowhereLand
Eddie Murphy might just have been reading Filmstalker as we hear his next role is to continue on the more dramatic vein, should he get signed up for it that is.
He's in talks to star in a film called NowhereLand which is about a successful financial executive who suddenly loses all his confidence and finds that his career is going down the drain - welcome to the big bad world! However as he hears about the imaginary world created by his daughter he realises that the answers to his problems are contained within.
One of the writers Ed Solomon took the idea from his own life after his son suggested the answer to a problem he couldn't get his head around. However it might not be as dramatic as I hoped when we hear that the writers both worked together on the Bill & Ted films. Still, he wrote Charlie's Angels. The producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura says in Variety.
"We liked the idea of Eddie playing a role he hasn't played before," said di Bonaventura. "He showed a bit of that vulnerability in 'Dreamgirls,' but this gives him the opportunity to tap into that reservoir of talent."
So perhaps we are going to see something less frantic and comic and with some more drama and emotional acting. I damn well hope so because he's another good actor who is so often swamped in drivel.
