Olyphant is Hitman and sequels

TimothyOlyphant.jpgSo why do we take note of rumours and denials, well because they come true so often, and so it is that Timothy Olyphant is confirmed as Agent 47 in the Luc Besson produced Hitman, the adaptation of the famous videogame.

There are two interesting things to note in this confirmation from Variety through Empire. Apparently the contract with Olyphant allows for sequels (but then most contracts do where a film could possibly lead to something more) and there's a big budget being sunk into the film.

Both are good signs, but the best thing we could hear right now is for a strong director, and a good one. Could Besson move into the chair? I doubt it. The little he knows about the character and the concept doesn't make him sound interested, and he's more keen on his Arthur films. No, I think we'll see someone else, but it has to be someone who knows action and style.

Corey Yuen from The Transporter perhaps? Ach, maybe I'm just making too much of a connection to Jason Statham and that character, an actor who would have been perfect for the role as well.

Okay. Big budget, strong actor who looks the part, strong production team, and an a very well reviewed script from Skip Woods suggest that this is a great film in the making.
