Producers, Writers and Screenwriters Guilds announce nominees

The Producers Guild, the Writers Guild and the Screen Actors Guild have announced their nominations for awards and there are a couple of interesting announcements in there, although there's a lot of TV, and Filmstalker is all about film, there are some close connections, so in the main story (over the page or below) you'll see the relevant nominees.

Interestingly the TV show Flight 93 has gathered nominations from both the Producers and the Writers, and Clint Eastwood seems to have been avoided in the Producers awards. Unsurprisingly 24 is mentioned quite a bit, as is Lost, Sopranos (which I definitely think is wrong) and Grey's Anatomy.

I've been watching Sopranos over here of late and the series has been far from exciting. Dull in fact is the word. There's no feeling of them being anything other than a group of bumbling idiots and the menace and tension is gone. It's been a sad series for them.

The Screenwriters give us some interesting thoughts, just look at Leonardo DiCarprio go, Will Smith also gets a mention as do Judi Dench and cate Blanchett for Notes on a Scandal.

Anyway, onto the awards...

I'm not entirely sure how you award Producers, is it just based on the production work or do they watch the final film and judge that product as well? For a full list of the awards head to The Producers Guild official site.

I, like Time Out who highlighted the story, am surprised at the lack of either of Clint Eastwood's Iwo Jima films being mentioned.

Onto the Writers nominations now, and this is a short list as it's TV. I've included the Dramatic Series category as these tend to be very close to film...
