Soul Surfer becomes film
I remember seeing a Volvo advert that featured the surfer Bethany Hamilton. She famously lost her arm in a shark attack on Halloween morning off the coast of Kauai in Hawaii. She headed straight back to shore, raced to a hospital where her father was having knee surgery, stole his spot on the operating theatre, and woke up asking when she could surf again.
She then wrote a book about it called Soul Surfer: A True Story of Faith, Family and Fighting to Get Back on the Board and now it looks set to make it to the big screen with Sean McNamara directing - who's he you may ask, we'll he's currently directing Bratz: The Movie. A strange choice indeed.
The story comes from PerthNow through CHUD.
I think the story does have potential for a film, playing on the human struggling to triumph much like the Douglas Bader story, Reash for the Sky. Something you want to see do you think?
