Stiller's new war comedy
Ben Stiller is returning to what he does best - I'll restraing myself here - directing his own work. According to news he's set to direct a war film comedy that he has been writing since he worked on Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun.
The film was written by Stiller, Justin Theroux and Etan Cohen - Cinema Blend point out that this name, from the story at Production Weekly, is deliberately without the "h", on checking it seems like the famous Ethan has a very elusive psuedoname! - he started writing about the film back in 1987, and it's called Tropic Thunder.
It's about a big budget war film where everything on production, as you would expect, goes all wrong. The whole thing gets so messed up that the actors end up being the commandos they are playing and start fighting for real. Mix Three Amigo's with Rambo.
I can't say I'm excited about the concept, what do you think, is it a good move for Stiller to get back to his own work?
