300 sequel already?

300.jpgI grow sceptical of sequel talk during press time for a film, in fact I grow more sceptical of any talk of proposed films during press time, mainly because it's a great way to get press to write about you, and here is no different. So with the 300 press coverage comes word that there might just be a sequel to 300.

Now for those of you who know the story already you'll be sitting there wondering how on earth this could work, I know I am. Yet producer Mark Canton announced that he would really love to see a sequel to the film and he stressed that he would really want Zack Snyder to continue with the second film.

I think if they are going to do anything it would be a prequel, I just don't see any other way they could go on this. However it does appear that Canton is serious about it and according to Michael over at MoviesOnline he really stressed the point that he'd love to do one and that Frank Miller has many ideas up his sleeve.

What do you think, could there be mileage in a prequel, could they do a sequel? Oh, and beware people, there may be some spoilers appearing in the comments of this one, there's no avoiding it. Please give a warning if you're going to.

How can it work as a sequel if the 300 warriors are all *toot-toot* (self-censored)

Can they not wait to have all this sequel talk once the film's actually been released, well maybe anyone who gets to see the film first can tell us if a sequel seems justified, dont any of you think so? ;)

well, sure they can have a sequal to this movie. It's easy because they left the audience in an uproar at the theather i was at when the movie ended. People were very upset because they were hoping to see the final battle and see who was the victor.

I say if they were money hungry like myself...just do a sequal and make more money off of it.

I there are like 2-3 other wars after the 300 war that shows how the greeks did overpower the persians.

yo suckers,
there are several more battles during this war which occured before the eventual defeat of the persians.

while they would not have the same characters except perhaps cylops man who is missing the eye, they could continue on with the story.

not serveral battle but serveral wars the destruction of the persian empire was by alexander the great who made a bigger empire than the persians.

There could be many sequals in the time frame with this theme

Obviously a movie involving the 300 wouldnt happen. but the battle of platea would work for sure and makes sense, the battle of salamis: the great greek/persian naval battle could be huge!! They could even to a starwars'esque prequel and go back to the battle of Marathon although that seems unlikely. Then of course theres Alexandeers battles although theyve already done Alexander. Still wouuld be nice to see an Alexander in the style of Zack Snyder!!

of course they can have a sequel to this movie.....i dono what theyd call it ...."10,000" perhaps ? lol....at the end of the movie when the spartans return with 10,000 soldiers...they could show that battle against the persians!

Just leave this film alone that's what I'll say.

I would be interested in the creation of a sequel. Phidippedes the marathon runner is a legend and i have already stroyboarded out some ideas and scenes. There is definately enough background to create strong centralized characters and make a great film without feeling like you are watching a remake of 300.

It would be easy to do a sequal of 300, just show the battles where there are 10000spartans and 30000greeks vs the persians, and call it the revenge of the 300 or sumthing, so people know its the sequal.

Make it a "spiritual sequal" and tell the story of the 12 Labors of Hercules. Kick it up a notch by having at the end King Leonidas telling the story to his son, the last thing he does before going off with the 300.

Coolest movie ever next to 300. Cause if you do just another massive war/battle film than it will instantly be compared to the original where as a story of Hercules that takes place in the same universe would just be cool.

I think there should be a second film. Becuase '300' was really good, becuase only 300 Spartans defeated atleast 1 or 2,000 Persians, can you imagine 10,000 Spartans? That would be really interesting to watch the Spartans whip the shit out of the Persians. And not including the addrinaline during the movie. I think you should make a second film. and name it 'SPARTA' since the king died in '300' and they are fighting for him, and they called him Sparta, so it would make sense to me.

the 300 spartans killed 100 to 200 thousand not 1 or 2 thousand. read ur history bub. a sequal would be a great idea, especially if they do continue were they left off. seeing 300 men kill a hundred thousand men is amazing, so imagine seeing 10,000 spartans in battle, WOW. sign me up

the way 300 ended gave people a shock and saying that "commanding 10,000 spartans and 30,000 greeks we shall crush the persians", this gave me a very suspitious feeling that there would be a sequal to 300, they might call it 10,000 - revenge of sparta.
if any1 disagrees with me i would gladly listen to wat they hav to say.

call it 10.000 THE RISE OF THE SPARTANS.

300 BEST MOVIE EVER MADE!!
I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A SCOND 1
EASY CALL IT 3,000 OR 30,000 OR U CUD BE MAD AND CALL IT 300,000 WERE THE SPARTANS CRUSH THE PERSIANS THEN THE PERSIANS COME BACK A FEW YEARS LATER WITH A BIGGER ARMY!! AND HAVE A MASSIVE WAR LIKE TROY..

sequel for 300? why not? u would make a hell of a lot of money off it. plus why would they leave with the spartans charging at the end of the movie without a sequel. i would be mad if they did not make a sequel. its a no-brainer.

Actually the final battle at Platea which is shown beginning at the end of 300, turned into something of a rout of the Persians. Their Emperor Xerxes had already fled back to Persia taking a large number of his forces with him and the Greeks annihilated the remaining ones. It's why drama's tend to focus on Thermopylae where the Spartans fought against such huge odds and the Persians lost their aura of invincibility even though they won the battle. The final battle isn't as crucial as the ones that led up to it which is why Miller ends his story at it's start, giving the impression that Greek victory's almost a foregone conclusion brought about by the earlier Spartan sacrifice. I'm a big fan of the movie and Frank Millers graphic novel on which it's based. Terrific visceral action, and if it isn't accurate in historical detail then it gets the main point right: the Greeks were laying the foundations for pretty much all modern democratic politics, art, and science at this point. If they'd lost the war then the world today would be an utterly different place and the movie brings that home to a wider audience that might never have heard of the Greek/Persian conflict. Still, I don't think there's much scope for a sequel unless Frank Miller first writes and draws another graphic novel set in that period. He's pretty busy at the moment, directing a film version of Will Eisner's Spirit stories and working on Sin City 2 with Robert Rodriguez, so that's probably not going to happen any time soon. In the meantime hopefully someone else might pick up some of his earlier graphic novel work for adaptation; his Martha Washington stories are a great movie waiting to happen.

Yeah i can see a sequal in it. after all it does leave you waiting for the final battle where there are thousands of spartans at the end.

Suppose they could call it 3000 (if there was 3000 soldiers) - i think that would work as a sequal title, i mean they can't call it 300 - 2.
