Already Dead vampire franchise adapted

AlreadyDead.jpgThere's another vampire story coming to the big screen, but this one has a nice twist. The adaptation is from the book

Already Dead by Charlie Huston, and the Amazon blurb has the following:

They live among us, slaves to the very condition that empowers them. They are the Vampyre, and their sole chance at survival lies in banding into Clans. Only Joe Pitt has gone his own way. The upside is freedom. The downside is there's nobody on his side when trouble comes around. Joe gets rough receptions from all the countless Clans shifting about on the island of Manhattan, but his current trouble is with the Coalition ? the Clan that controls the city river to river, from 14th Street to 110th Street. To make things right, Joe takes on his most perilous case: The daughter of a prominent New York family is missing, and her Vampyre fascination makes Joe the ideal man for this high-stakes job.

I love that close line, a high-stakes job. Get it? It looks like this is going to be another franchise as it is the first of a five book series with the second, No Dominion having just been published according to Variety.

Scott Rosenberg is set to adapt the book, he has previously written Con Air, Gone in Sixty Seconds, and Kangaroo Jack. Seems a little change from the usual fare, hopefully a little more meaty too.

LOVE vampire flicks. Even bad ones I still like a little. John Carp's Vampires, Interview, Frostbite, Razor Blade Smile... I dig em all.

Hopefully this one has a little punch to it. With the writing of Con Air and Gone....Seconds, I'm a litle skeptical. Still, I'll see anything with fangs and blood.
