Angel-A trailer, a reminder

AngelA_Poster.jpgI saw Angel-A (Filmstalker review) almost an eon ago, or so it seems now, 22nd of July last year actually, and I loved it. It's a beautiful film, and people are still talking about it.

A trailer [QT:M:HD] pops up on Apple trailers today and it just reminded me how wonderful some of the scenes and character interactions are. This trailer is differently cut, slightly so, but it's noticeable, and it gives a different feel to it, a faster pace than the film itself.

If you haven't yet seen it I urge you to go and do that, and try and see it on a big screen or at someone's home cinema system, don't watch it on a rubbish TV or computer. It's beautifully shot and wonderfully warm. Here's what I said about it first time around:

The plot is pretty simple, a man who seems worth nothing in life is at his wits end when his eye catches a stunning blonde, and she sets about to put his life right...

...The characters are very natural, with their interactions very relaxed and real. The dialogue just seems to flow, and nothing about these performances is stilted or out of place...

...It's well told with often simple and witty dialogue. At times, for example the bathroom scene, it is sharp, incredibly insightful and deeply emotional. That scene in particular caught me, and a few others, bringing a tear to the eye and a self realising lump in the throat...It connected something in me that I think is in many of us...

...Overall this is a lovely story placed against some of the most beautiful images of Paris and filmed with a love for cinema and the city itself. It's strongly emotional and uplifting, with some quite funny and insightful moments.

See it.

I couldn't agree more. The average reviews on rotten tomatoes make no sense to me and I nearly gave this one a miss based on those low ratings - glad I decided to give it a chance anyway. The film is beautiful and the male lead in particular is outstanding. Good to know that films like this can still get made, even if the critics poo-poo them.

Well since I missed it in the cinema, I just have to add it to my rental queue now eh?
