Antikörper (Antibodies) gets remade
When I saw Antikörper (Antibodies) at the EIFF last year one of the things I said at the end of the review was:
I thoroughly recommend this movie, especially before the deal is made for a US remake, and it will be, [Christian] Alvart [the writer/director] said as much during the Q&A.
Lo and behold he was right as the news comes out today that this superb film is being remade by Hollywood.
The news over at Moviehole is that Kevin Waehner is writing the script. Waehner is a newcomer to scriptwriting and although his biggest part to date has been as a production assistant, Clint is told that this guy really knows horror movies.
I have to tell you that I loved this film, and I can see why Hollywood would want to remake it. There are a couple of ways they could take it and I'm interested to see what they decide to change with the characters. However, as always, I'd advise that you head out and see that original as soon as possible. I whole heartedly believe that the remake won't stand up to it.
Have a look at the trailer over at Cinema.com [QT:WMV:RP:S:M:L] or head over to the official site to see the trailer, gallery, and the story of how a small town cop gets drawn into the mind of a serial killer and finds that evil doesn't just live inside the killer's mind. Have a read of the review too.
