Bardem joins Cruz on Allen's Barcelona film

WoodyAllen.jpg"Woody Allen has recruited two big names for his next film, the untitled one set in Barcelona. Penélope Cruz has already signed, and news today is that Javier Bardem has signed for the film.

It's growing to be another big name project, and Allen certainly doesn't have any problem gathering the talent for his movies.

The news comes from Variety through Empire who also have a brief insight into the film:

...it will centre around a love triangle involving foreigners visiting Barcelona (where it will mainly be shot), and therefore utilise both Spanish and English language dialogue.

Sounds an interesting project, although I hope it doesn't turn to the old Allen comedy, I'm just not a fan of that. Match Point (Filmstalker review) really turned me around to his films and I just hope that this continues.

Agreed. Match Point was brliant. 1 Because Allen himself wasn't in it. And 2, because it's not a comedy. Hope Allen can make another suspenseful, serious number with two great actors like Cruz and Bardem.

And ALLEN BETTER KEEP HIS GRUBBY LITTLE PAWS OFF MY FUTURE WIFE!

Warren Beatty has an interesting psychology. He has always fallen in love with girls who have just won or been nominated for an Academy award.
