David Ayer's The Night Watchmen
Keanu Reeves is set to take the lead in The Night Watchmen, a James Ellroy scripted film that is currently receiving a rewrite from David Ayer who is also directing.
According to IMDB the story is about a disgraced cop who sets out to redeem himself, whereas Variety, who carry the news, describe the story as:
Reeves plays a cop who's always done what was needed to solve homicides and crack down on gang violence until he gets a wakeup call and decides he can no longer play the game that made him so effective.
Sounds interesting, do you think we'll see a performance just as Constantine (Filmstalker review)?
The film has been through a torrid production history, with names such as David Fincher, Spike Lee and Oliver Stone associated with it in the past, now though the prospect of Ayer helming the film is extremely interesting.
Ayer wrote and directed Harsh Times, and wrote Training Day, The Fast and the Furious, Dark Blue and SWAT. He also rewrote history with U-571.
With Ayer in charge of an Ellroy script I think we're in for something special, throw in gangs and we might get something special from Reeves too.
