Ghostbusters III is a go, in full CGI
Ghostbusters III is a go, it's official and the word comes from Dan Ackroyd himself. Last year it wasn't, this year it's coming.
There's something that has changed though. Bill Murray said that he would never appear back on screen for the film, a move that can be quite frankly described as disappointing to the fans and a very poor decision, and that killed any third film dead.
There's been loads of talk about a third film with a new cast, but that's never come to pass either, which frankly is a great thing, so how can they do it? The response is to make Ghostbusters III in pure CGI and Murray has agreed to voice the character.
Ackroyd has talked about it over at CISNFM, in between a load of other stuff that you might, or might not, be interested in. Hence I've linked directly to the second part of the interview is where he describes the idea of the script, an alternative universe of Manhattan where everything is transposed deep into hell.
Sounds like fun, and if it's the only way to get them back on screen then I guess it's the only way. Let's face it though, it's Murray that's stopping a live action return, and that doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps he's happy playing the character of Lost in Translation and pathetically poor CGI cat films.
