Gosling developing African child soldier film

RyanGosling.jpgRyan Gosling is to direct a film about child soldiers in Africa, a topic that I believe really needs more worldwide publicity. The Lord's Resistance Army is the tentative title for the film and will star non actors and include actual African child soldiers.

According to the story from Variety through Coming Soon Gosling is writing the script and has almost raised all the financing. Well done him.

I think the last film that I saw that touched on such subjects was Tears of the Sun (Filmstalker review), and say what you like about that film and Bruce Willis, but I loved the DVD offering. Not only was it entertaining throughout the film but it also educated, and not just in the film itself but there's a special version of the film to watch which keeps popping up information balloons throughout which inform you about everything from the Aircraft Carrier statistics through the the horrifying stories of the Sierra Leone children.

Definitely worth a rental, and it looks like this film is worth looking out for too.

Oh I do like Ryan Gosling since I saw him in The Notebook. Will definitely keep an eye on Half Nelson, and now this one too!

I'm happy to hear Gosling is already onto his next project. Can't wait.
