Has Abrams finally signed for Star Trek XI?
Now let's not get too excited. An unnammed source has spoken to The Hollywood Reporter and stated that J.J. Abrams is going to direct Star Trek XI. An unnamed source.
Okay, so the story does come from a reliable news company, but they are still quoting it from a source so nothing is official yet. The other thing to realise is that he was never not directing it, he's just always been producing it, so these rumours flying back and forth about him being on or off are just the same as this story in The Hollywood Reporter.
After months of speculation, J.J. Abrams has signed on to direct the next installment of the "Star Trek" feature franchise, sources said late Friday. "Star Trek XI" revolves around a young James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, chronicling their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and their first space mission.
Is the exact quote from the article and the rumour is that Abrams signed on Friday evening.
As I say, no real surprise as the speculation was that he would do the directing duties, but I am still going to hold out for the official confirmation which should come Monday. After all we've heard so many rumours. Good news? Are you happy with Abrams taking the lead on the project? Should it be a young Kirk and Spock?
