Henson Company acquires three novels
The Jim Henson Company have just bought three novels to possibly develop into films, one looks particularly interesting. There's The Boggart by Susan Cooper, The Doubtful Guest by Edward Gorey and the trilogy Monster Blood Tattoo by D.M. Cornishere.
According to Variety through SciFi Wire, the stories are:
The Boggart is about a family who move from Toronto to Scotland living in the castle that they've inherited. Unfortunately there's a fun spirit that haunts the castle who has been playing tricks on anyone who stays there for generations. This looks set to be developed as a live-action family film with Brian Henson directing.
The Doubtful Guest is about a ghost that appears in a family owned bed and breakfast, a similar tale it sounds. This is being directed by Brad Peyton from a script by Matthew Huffman.
Finally there's the possible trilogy, although there's no word yet if they will go forward with this, Monster Blood Tattoo. This is the story of a boy who embarks on a quest to become the apprentice of a line of monster bounty hunters. It's set in a Victorian style other world.
To be honest it's only the Tattoo story that really grabs my interest, the other two sound like Casper tales to me, of course they are only a blurb and there could be so much more to them.
