Bad ideas day today I think, first up is Warner Brothers buying the spec script Invaders from Jayson Rothwell which is an action thriller about a group of thieves forced by a rogue US Government agent to retrieve the video of...now what for the killer line here...the President having sex with the wife of an Arab Sheik.

Okay there are a few things that immediately hit me in the face here. Why an Arab Sheik? Is the script trying to pull on real world tension by inserting such a bizarre plotline, is it maybe that this would be considered really damaging as opposed to being seen having sex with the wife of a Chinese rich and powerful man? The other thing is remove the sex tape and we're looking at such films as Absolute Power, what can we get from this that's new?

When I started reading the rest of the Variety article and saw that Rothwell is working on the A-Team script (the project that was the first thing I wrote about on the web way back in October 2004!) and, correcting the missing part of the Variety article, Basil Iwanyk who is producing also produced Firewall (Filmstalker review) which was pathetically bad, to be fair he's had a couple of good titles on his slate too.

I don't see anything that's making me want to go see it do you?
