Lionsgate buys Baker Street aka Bank Job
Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows are to star in Roger Donaldson's thriller The Bank Job which has just been bought by Lionsgate.
The film, which is in principal photography, was previously known as Baker Street and was inspired by a real life bank robbery in London which was never solved. A group tunneled into a safe deposit vault and took millions of dollars in cash and jewelry.
As soon as the heist was discovered the papers were full of the events, until a Government order killed the story. Ooh, conspiracy galore, and that's just what the film offers.
According to the story from Variety the film will cover murder, corruption, sex scandal and Royal Family links, making the robbers themselves the least guilty party.
Sound interesting, and another strong role for Statham that's not pure action based. I really do like him as an actor, and recently I saw Guy Ritchie's Revolver and managed to see a lot of good in it, particularly from Statham.
Other names set to star in the film are David Suchet, James Faulkner, Colin Salmon, Peter Bowles and the often overlooked Craig Fairbrass as well as a host of other names.
